The Southern Basketball Association is pleased to announce the interim senior coaching panel for the 2020 NBL1 and Victorian Youth Championship seasons.
The Sabres Men’s NBL1 Head Coach will be Nathan Crosswell. After a distinguished playing career in the NBL, SEABL and Big V Nathan makes the transition to the senior coaching ranks after coaching Sabres junior teams for four seasons. As Head Coach of the junior Sabres Boys program, Crosswell will continue the good work of Nathan Cooper Brown and assist in the transition of our Sabres juniors into the senior program. Evan Vallance steps up from VYC Head Coach in 2019 to join as lead Assistant.
Supporting Crosswell with the VYC Men will be Andrew Lim. Andrew was SEABL Assistant Coach with the Sabres in 2018 and is fresh off coaching the Waverley Falcons Under 16 Boys to the Victorian Championship title; we welcome him to Sabres.
Andrew Potter returns as the NBL1 Women’s Head Coach. After a difficult injury riddled season in 2019, Andrew and his staff will be keen to climb the ladder and improve their overall performance.
Joining Andrew will be new Head Coach of the VYC Women Jacqui O’Neill. Jacqui makes the transition to senior coaching after a successful season coaching the Sabres Under 16 Girls in 2019. O’Neill has a proven track record of player development and will continue to provide the VYC Women with the opportunity to graduate to the NBL1 side. In addition to her role with the Sabres VYC Women, O’Neill is also an Assistant Coach with the Under 16 Vic Metro staff for their 2020 Junior National campaign.
The SBA wants to acknowledge the outstanding work of Jo Wood in the VYC Head Coaches role, particularly over the past 3 seasons. We wish her well with her coaching
