SABRES SUIT UP FOR MELBOURNE UNITED

Your NBL1 Sandringham Sabres Men’s squad received the call up to suit up for Melbourne United’s practice game against the Tasmania Jack Jumpers on Monday night.
The line-up consisted of the following Sabres stars; Campbell Blogg, Joel Foxwell, Tom Koppens and CJ Asuncion-Byrd, alongside coaching experts Rhys Carter and David Barlow.

Although Melbourne United fell short to the Tasmania JackJumeprs by 16points, the squad had a great hit out with a combination of fully rostered players and training players.

20-year-old training player Tom Koppens made his mark on the contest, doing a bit of everything to wrestle back some momentum throughtout the game. He scored four points, while adding an assist, block and rebound.

This, combined with a buzzer-beating steal and score from development player, Campbell Blogg reduced the gap to 15 points to close the opening quarter. After going without a made triple in the first period, Blogg took it upon himself to change that at the start of the second.

The 19-year-old cashed in back-to-back threes to bring his total to 10 points, and continued to showcase his range right up until the final buzzer.

Blogg led all scorers for United with 18, while Koppens contributed 13 points off the bench.

Well done to our Sabres Superstars!
