Melbourne United All Girls’ Event will be held on Wednesday 2 October at Hoop City Cheltenham from 4-7pm during the school holidays.
The aim of the major project is to encourage female athletes to participate in sport, have fun with friends and focus on the importance of building relationships, and to understand what it takes to be successful in a high performance environment. Participants will undertake a skills clinic to focus on their basketball skills and physical literacy, but also hear from speakers who will give personal insight into being around sport with a focus on the importance of a positive mindset, nutrition and recovery, and team dynamics. This will be a collaboration between Melbourne United, Hoop City Cheltenham and the SEDA Group.
The coaches and speakers for the day include:
- Brittany Smart, who has played at Sandringham Sabres NBL1
- Current State players Alexs Connolly and Lily Impy
- Jerril Rechter ex-CEO of Basketball Australia
- Alexandra Harland from the Melbourne United Academy, and
- Rosie Fadljevic Head of Hoop City Cheltenham
At the conclusion of the event, prizes will be given to the MVP participant on the day and show bags to the rest of those who participated.
