The SBA is excited to announce the return of Ella Batish for the upcoming 2019 season. Ella will form a key partnership with Rachel Jarry as the Sabres again look to make a push towards the playoffs in 2019.
“Having come through both the Sabres and Basketball Victoria pathways, it is great to have Ella continue her basketball journey with the Sabres Senior Women’s Team,” said Head Coach Andrew Potter.
Batish nearly doubled her scoring output last season, averaging 8.2 ppg and close to 4 rebounds per game. An intelligent player, Batish can stretch the floor with her range and is a good finisher around the basket. A much loved figure amongst her peers in the women’s program, Ella’s experience will be an important asset for the group. “Having played in multiple teams last year and winning both the Under 21 State Title in the VJBL Competition and being a member of the Big V Youth League Championship winning team Ella returns to continue her development and build on her SEABL experiences,” said Potter. “Ella will carry a heavy load as our primary big and her development in leadership and as a stretch 4 will be important within the group.”
Batish’s signing adds to that of WNBL star Rachel Jarry as the women continue to prepare for the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more details surrounding the new Basketball Victoria Elite League which kicks off on 29th of March.
