THREE SABRES’ NOMINATED FOR BIG V AWARDS

The Big V Awards are just around the corner, and there are plenty of Sabres who have the chance to take home some silverware!

Nominated for three awards on the night, Chloe Hicks who has been collecting nods all season. Most recently winning the Golden Hands (most amount of steals) award for the Youth Champ Women’s division, she has picked up several Player of the Week and Player of the Month awards. While she is known for picking pockets, Hicks is a multi-dimensional player, averaging over 10-points, seven rebounds and four assists to go with her five steals.

She has the chance to be named Defensive Player of the Year, All Star 5 and Most Valuable Player.

Hicks is not the only Sabre to have the chance to take home the big prize. Her teammate Chelsea Bransden joins her in the race after averaging nine points, six rebounds, two assists and almost five steals.

From the VYC Men, Ben Charnley has been nominated for Defensive Player of the Year. Ben has been harassing opponents all year, averaging over two steals and four rebounds per game, whilst committing just one foul per contest.

Both VYC coaches Jo Wood (Women) and Evan Vallance (Men) are also in the running for Coach of the Year in their respective divisions.

Good luck to all award nominees, it’s a credit to the effort you all had in the orange and blue in 2019.
