2019 Junior Sabres Try Out Information
Try-Out Process:
- ALL SBA domestic players are invited to register for tryouts;
- All tryout sessions will be closed to parents. The first “open” session for parents will be the scrimmages scheduled for the 19th of October;
- Selectors will be nominated and selected by SBA Head Coaches Simon Giovannoni and Nathan Crosswell;
- There will be a maximum of eight selectors on court during any one tryout, including SBA Head Coaches; no other Sabres coaches are permitted at the session.
- To maintain the integrity of the tryout process and in line with our policy of no parent coaching their child in a Sabres “first team”, no parent of a child playing in the age group will be permitted to be at the tryout process.
- Please refrain from approaching the coaches involved in tryouts to find out how your son or daughter went during a tryout session. Coaches are also asked not to disclose information about the tryouts to parents;
- Registrations for tryouts will close on Monday the 10th of September
UNDER 12 AGE GROUP:
- Players born 2008, 2009 and 2010 (VJBL Under 12) are invited to register for tryouts;
- SBA Head Coaches will review the Under 10 and Under 12 SBA domestic competitions and select players will also be invited to SABRES Under 12 trials via email by mid-August;

Players and Parents are reminded:
- Please arrive half an hour before the session to allow time to register;
- Bring a Basketball (clearly named);
- Bring a Drink Bottle (clearly named);
- Bring a Reversible Singlet / two different coloured tops;
- Players attending tryouts from other Representative Clubs must provide a permission to train form (no exceptions).
